Tim Madigan is Professor and Chair of Philosophy and Founder of the Irish Studies Program at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. This presentation will discuss Fredrick Douglass’s 1845 trip to Ireland and how it influenced his life-long commitment to agitating for human rights. It will also examine how Douglass remains a powerful figure for peace and reconciliation in modern-day Ireland and Northern Ireland, with murals commemorating him in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as well as memorials to him in other cities he visited in Ireland, including Dublin, Cork, and Waterford.

The cost of the dinner is $20.00, which will include a buffet of meatballs, chicken french, eggplant parmigiana, pasta with tomato sauce, roasted potatoes, french green beans, salad, bread and dessert. The cost of this event will also provide a one year membership to RACSS.
